Young people can have fertility issues too
Ageism in Fertility: The Untold Struggle
Infertility doesn’t discriminate by age. While age is an important factor in fertility, it’s a harmful myth that only older individuals face challenges trying to conceive.
The reality?
Young people often experience gaslighting when it comes to infertility.
Friends may say, “You’re young, don’t worry about it.”
Doctors might dismiss concerns, saying, “You have plenty of time.”
These statements can leave young people feeling unheard, invalidated, and isolated. The truth is that conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, diminished ovarian reserve, or male factor infertility don’t wait for a certain age to appear.
If you’re being told ‘you’re young—you’ll be fine’ by your doctor, find a new one. Your concerns matter, and you deserve care that takes them seriously.
Advocating for yourself:
✔️ Trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, seek help.
✔️ Push for testing or second opinions if needed.
✔️ Find a provider who listens to your story and takes action.
No matter your age, infertility is real, and your journey deserves compassion and support.
