The Old West’s Strongest Man
The Wild West’s STRONGEST man wrestled bulls BAREHANDED.
The part-Cherokee son of a Black slave,
he invented a brutal technique for FIGHTING BULLS.
It’s called ‘BULLDOGGING’:
He’d leap off a galloping horse, grab a 900-pound bull by the horns, and slam it into the dirt with raw strength.
If the steer was mean, he’d bite it on the lip and wrench its head sideways until it dropped.
He was the first Black cowboy in the Rodeo Hall of Fame.
And BULLDOGGING?
Now a major rodeo sport.
His name was BILL PICKETT.
And he didn’t wrestle men, he wrestled BULLS.
